Crash

TRAJECTORY

Comic Unknown returns to the world of Torchbearer as we jump into issue #3 with the aftermath of the nuclear bombing in Charthulla. To recap from issue #2: Prometheus bombed the planet Charthulla to wipe the rebels from existence. To prevent the government from destroying the planet the rebels had to steal data from the archives. With the help of their double agent, Selene it became possible. Unfortunately, after stealing the data it was too late. Now the rebels need to recuperate but they need something from Prometheus. Cayoti must find a way save those people who were hit by the nuclear explosion. However nuclear bombs are old tech in this setting and the rebels must infiltrate Prometheus once more to find the cure. Will the rebels obtain the information they're looking for and come out unscathed?

The creator/writer Nicolas Dedual did a fine job on this issue, especially with the timeline. The issue starts with fragments of the ending and builds it up. Dennis Calero's top-notch illustration matched Dedual's narrative; the art in this issue was clean and tangible. Currently, we don't know the major roles these characters play and what this war is all about. We still have a long way to go with a lot of story/issues to read in order to find out the end game. Nevertheless, each issue on its own is compelling and it gets us one step closer to the story's apex. Comixology has this issue for only 0.99 cents and to catch up on the series click here. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and their publisher Odd Truth to be kept up to date.

The Game is Espionage

WELCOME TO ANOTHER INFILTRATING REVIEW WITH COMIC UNKNOWN!

Written by Nicolas Dedual
Art by Dennis Calero
Lettered by David Lanphear
Edited by M.I. Annoni
We follow Nicolas Dedual, Dennis Calero and the rest of the Torchbearing creative team once again with issue #2 of Torchbearer. A month has passed since the  bombing and the manhunt in Hyperia from issue #1 and the organization of rebels has taken over Chathulla  while Prometheus is still in the dark on who invaded it and why. The government decided to eliminate Chathulla as a whole with something very old but powerful. Given the advance technology protecting Chathulla, the government found that the old ways are sometimes the best. After the demolishment, the rebels need to find a way to remove Prometheus' big gun from play. In the end, they came up with espionage: get in unseen, steal the data and escape. Will the rebels come out unscathed? In issue #2 we find out who the players are, what organization they follow and what they're capable of with their technology. We still don't know what the whole picture is or what this war is about, so we ponder why the rebels declare war with the government Prometheus.

Is it a typical revenge plot where the government didn't protect its citizens? A fun theory is the original Star Wars plot: the government is corrupt and it's up to rebels to destroy them. While we still haven't reach the pinnacle of the Torchbearer, the story is very compelling. The story told in issue #2 by itself is a fantastic attention grabber, but it's merely a piece of a giant puzzle. What will unfold once Prometheus finds out who the rebellion is? Only time will tell until we find out the secrets of Torchbearer. If you would like to jump start into this series, you can get Issue One for Free and purchase Issue Two for less than a dollar! Make sure to  keep yourself up to date with Torchbearer and Odd Truth Comics by checking out the Odd Truth Comics site and following their Facebook page for any updates on their comics.

Quantum Mechanics

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EXPLOSIVE INCIDENT OF COMIC UNKNOWN

Today we introduce you guys to the mind of Nicolas Dedual, the creator of Torchbearer. With the help of Dennis Calero (Illustrator), Kevin Lintz (Letterer), and M.I. Annoni (Editor), Torchbearer came to life through the publication of Odd Truth Inc in October 2012. Torchbearer takes place in Hyperia City in a year of advanced technology. We follow the character Dr. Selene Elis in issue 1 through a day that starts off bad and gets worse. From waking up late to being exposed to an explosion causing her to lose temporary consciousness, Dr. Elis is now investigating the incident to see who was the culprit that caused the explosion.

With names relating to the Greek mythos, Torchbearer carefully used these names from naming the company after the titan Prometheus to naming the city Hyperia (daughter of the river god Inachus). Hopefully, we see more of this and see how everything develops. This 24-page book is in full color and uses it to its advantage when it needs to. The story catches the reader's attention and leaves us asking questions and wanting more.Who could have caused the explosion? Could it have been an ex-employee, a competitor or someone from within? The only way to find out is by picking up Torchbearer #1 which is available for FREE at Comixology
