Cataclysmic Chapter

WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER CATACLYSMIC CHAPTER OF COMIC UNKNOWN!
TODAY WE INTRODUCE RIVER COMIC'S
BARCODE CATALYST
Written By: J. M. Thakar, Art By: Jackie Diaz, Addt’l Story Elements By: Jonathan Blitstein

BarCode: Catalyst is the first part of the groundbreaking three part series. It is an epic tale echoing the journey of the Odyssey, merging historical fiction and sci-fi through a chronicle of the imprisonment of a scientist during WWII, and his quest to return home to his wife. The story is set in the Pacific Jewel Islands, a historical locale modeled after the Philippines. The PJI are a collection of four island provinces originally inhabited by indigenous Asiatic peoples, and now controlled by a white English speaking colonial government.

Throughout the story we find Dr. Verma being escorted by General Martin to the location of an asteroid that crashed into Mt. Golo, causing it to erupt. Close to the location is a village being engulfed by the lava and while Dr. Verma attempts to rescue some, his struggle only went so far. We soon discover that the reason why General Martin is leading Dr. Verma into this dangerous situation is for these blue fragmented rocks that are more than just vibrant ores. With a villager quicly getting one in their possesion, the villager is instantly affected by the rocks influence. With not much to be done left on the island, the two managed to narrowly escape the island unlike most.

Barcode Catalyst's illustration has hints of realism throughout its vivid scenery/background. Issue One begins to show an interesting twist into history during WWII; it gives us a refreshing tale and is keeps us in a mystery about whats going on. With an asteroid that has side effects on human beings, how will this new potential asset portray into the war? Only time will tell until the next issue will be released. Barcode Catalyst is available with an awesome discount that River Comics provided Comic Unknown of 25% OFF at checkout with the code RCFB813. Xeno Habilis Exterminus & Grizelda

Welcome back to another story of the Comic Unknown Anthology!!
Today We Will Be Introducing

Ugli Studios Presents Volume 1!

Volume 1 consists of two different stories but unlike most stories, both stories take a different turn in the story telling. Through the Eyes of Grizelda and The Great Vermin were created by Jason Lenox and David Paul, illustrated by Jason Lenox, Dani Kaulakis, Damon Haigh, Joseph Freistuhlerand, and colored by Dani Kaulakis.

Through the Eyes of Grizelda takes place in what was once a golden empire known as Xendria but now ravaged by centuries of war. We follow Grizelda, a feline companion to a powerful and feared Necromancer Amon Kadesh. Amon Kadesh is the stagnant ruler of this empire and we find him in a battle with those brave enough to cause an uprising and end his reign. But the necromancer would never give up so easily; he has the ability to call out the Great Beast and end this battle.

Instead of what most books would do and follow a good hearted hero in a quest to stop an evil entity, this tale does the complete opposite. It follows the vessel for the Great Beast of the Necromancer! While Grizelda easily makes her way back to the necromancer, we see the valiant warriors storming into a castle full of the living dead and cutting their way to Amon Kadesh. Right when they believe they have victory in their hands, Amon Kadesh chants the spell to release the Great Beast. In just a split moment, the tables have turned in this epic battle. This is an original and awesome story to catch and could easily continue as a stand alone comic.

The Great Vermin follows Xeno Habilis Exterminus team leader Veer and his company with a mission to exterminate the scourge species X2987. They land on the planet that has these “Great Vermin” to eradicate them because they swarm across the stars like locusts, spreading famine, pollution, and disease. Without going into too much detail, this story was short, sweet, and had an awesome twist. While it is only a few pages, it definitely did the job. It is a great read and follows the quality over quantity guidelines that we rarely see these days.

All in all, Ugli Studios Presents Volume 1 is an anthology that is both surprising and impressive. Each story had its own turn of events in which does not follow the norm, and it worked out perfectly. Ugli Studios Presents Volume 1 is a full color comic with some great pin-ups, and is available with autograph and shipping included for $6 or digital copy for $2.99

A Fractured Society

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EPIC CHAPTER  OF COMIC UNKNOWN!

Lets imagine a future where civilization is segregated with those who are addicted beyond control and those who are not. Now lets imagine that there is a drug that exists where once someone has taken it, they must continue to use it or else they parish. That drug is called CHEM 19, and the man that is looking for a cure was the same person who created it! Created and written by Kevin Truglio and illustrated and lettered by Przemyslaw R. Dedelis, Chem 19 follows Dr. Jason Wagner. Dr. Wagner had created Chem 19 for use in war and was designed to foster addiction and dependence. The chemical compound attached itself to DNA of the user and if the user stopped taking the drug, then the chemical would disintegrate along with the DNA causing death.

The purpose of Chemical 19 was to bring the elimination or dependence of warring countries. With no cure provided, the drug found its way to every country. With little to no government support, all addicts are segregated into the cities and with no way out.In his travels, we see Wagner in the process of leaving the city. He is confronted with common criminals attempting to rob him of a vial of Chem 19 he is carrying. Fighting ensues and the thugs soon realized that they picked a fight with the wrong person. He reaches the checkpoint to leave the city and gets on the departure bus but the bus was quickly stopped by the checkpoint officers when they realize someone on the bus is attempting to sneak out of the city.

With out any more spoilers, Chem 19 is an awesome read with a story that is basically in a post apocalyptic world and yet still controlled under one entity. It has it a great cover and illustrations and is an indie comic where you can't just stop on the first issue. The issue begins building the dystopian world and with one man searching for a cure. Chem 19 is black and white with about 30 pages of story and a few goodies at the end. It is currently available for an awesome price of .....$0.00! So just follow this link and start reading!. Issue Two is also available for digital download for only $0.99. Don't forget to check out Chem 19's Facebook page for instant updates of the series!
