Comic Unknown would like to welcome back the team behind the Victorian thriller comic Cognition with their latest issue. Legend tells a tale of a demon dog that plagues anyone in its path. The locals call it the Black Shuck and those who have seen the beast will be cursed with extreme poor luck. Cognition issue two follows the B.O.S.S. team as they investigate certain unfortunate events in the countryside of England to confirm the legend's authenticity. During their travels, Sigma plays a little mind game with Hattie insisting he wants to get know the team better. By diving into her memories both Cal and Sigma learn about her melancholy past and how she became a member of B.O.S.S. After gathering further intel at a saloon they begin their investigation. Unfortunately, the hunters became the hunted when the beast found them first. Will the B.O.S.S. team come out of this unscathed or did they bite off more than they can chew? 

Issue #2 of Cognition contains the same content format as the previous issue: one major story followed by a bonus one. The narrative doesn't waste any quality as it is on an equal level with the last issue with a dark entity disturbing the locals and the team must lay it to rest. There is a very much deserved admiration for Ken Reynolds for crafting this brilliant story which is easy to follow and well balanced. This issue really centers on Cal and Sigma's limitations and how they must be in close proximity to be at their full potential. The art by Sam Bentley is what distinguishes this comic from any other. Dark art styles and great use of shadows follow suit with the comic's grim Victorian setting. One minor concern is in certain scenes where the characters and the background are tricky to distinguish but it is hardly to note about. All in all the comic bold and beautiful. The same goes for the bonus story where a clairvoyant named Martha, struggles to find the moral gray area in line of work. WELCOME TO ANOTHER SUPERNATURAL ADVENTURE WITH THE DEMONIC MOUSE AND THE TIN MAN AT COMIC UNKNOWN

The Cognition creative team are back with the official issue one of the series. Unlike issue zero, issue one consist of the main story and an additional  narrative from the butler. Cal and Sigma investigate the mysterious death of their client's brother. The client had approached the organization about his brother's death since he felt that it was beyond conventional. Like most investigative stories, the client proceeds to explain the backstory of his brother Edward and what has occurred to him. The love Edward had for his recently departed wife and his beautiful daughters brought the client to believe that his actions were not probable. He was secluded and depressed, very withdrawn but abruptly changed. It wasn't for the better however, he became somewhat of a solicitor and whispers began to spread of his disturbing vices. Edward then surrendered to the police and was hanged for his crimes. The client knew that wasn't his loving brother. What came about of Edward? Will Cal and Sigma figure out his intentions?

As stated from the last review, Ken Reynolds and Sam Bentley cannot do no wrong with their gothic/ dark supernatural  tale. Although this issue consists of one story and a bonus feature, it's still compelling to the very end. Cognition's art style is very unique and grimly beautiful but what will always stand out are the duo themselves. Cal and Sigma's sassy telepathic remarks to each other adds a bit of comedic relief considering the dark tale. Sigma, the demonically possessed rat has no hair on his tongue and iterates anything on its mind. The bonus feature, is a short story from the butler's prospective. The art style and the story are both lighthearted and entertaining to see. Overall, Issue One stands next to its previous issue with its compelling story telling combined with the dark yet beautiful art style. This spectacular team created both visually and a literary masterpiece. In the Victorian era of England, people were prone to the paranormal and supernatural. Tales are told by the locals of people disappearing without a trace. Could this be fiction to scare off the tourist? Whatever the case may be, this made clairvoyants more popular than ever and for some people, all they see is a quick payday. What would you do if you found a genuine psychic? Would you believe their stories or the fortune they hold for you? Cognition Issue Zero tells a series of stories following an unlikely duo, a human soul stuck in a metal armor and a demon possessed mouse. They work in an organization called B.O.S.S. (British Occult Secret Service) exclusively for the Queen, following any paranormal events affecting humans. These "agents" follow special cases no mortal human could follow because of their paranormal abilities. Nevertheless, they do take part in other ops from sting operations to find those con artist to even investigating the dimension between ours and the next. 

Cognition is a supernatural noir Ken Reynolds created and is a great original comic that has a fresh dark tone. What separates this comic from the others is the art style thanks to Sam Bentley. The monochromatic art style this comic offers sells the story to the readers on a whole different level. Apart from the dark and seductive stories, the protagonists take the spot light. Cal is the human soul trapped in metal armor who likes to do what is right while his demon possessed mouse Sigma is rather callous and do what is needed. These characters balance each other out with their different ideologies and can combine forces to become something greater than themselves. If you're a fan of the dark supernatural thriller, Cognition is definitely what you want to get your hands on.
