An Addict's Interview

Welcome back to another great adventure with Comic Unknown!!

Today we have a very special opportunity to interview a creator we have seen in the Comic Unknown world multiple times. He created the father that will stop at nothing to find a drug that could not only kill his daughter, but needs the drug to keep her alive. We welcome Kevin Truglio the creator of Chem 19 to this fortunate interview!

Comic Unknown: What made you want to work in the comicbook industry? 

Kevin Truglio: I always enjoyed comics as a kid and they were a fun part of growing up.  When the story of Chem 19 came to me, it can as these images that I felt would be perfect as a comic instead of other mediums, so because of that, it just felt natural to try and tell the story that way.

CU: How did you come up with the story line of Chem 19?

KT: The story of Chem 19 came as a way of dealing with an incident of life.  I had these emotions that I was going thru and the story of Chem 19 evolved from them. 

CU:Were any of the characters inspired by another character or person?

KT: No one in particular.  As a writer, we always use our past as an indirect influence on our works so there is some of that but nothing where I chose specifically for the story.   I do use my friends and family names for characters and even have contests on the Facebook or the Tapastic page where fans came have their name in the series.

CU: How many issues do you have in mind for the series? 

KT: We are on issue # 18 and that ends the first arc.  I’m not sure how long the 2nd arc will take but I do see the series continuing on after the first arc.  The story keeps growing as we work on it.

CU: Will the comic's universe continue after the series? 

KT: Maybe.  I’ve had some spinoff stories pop up in my head of how other people would live in this world.  Some of these could be one time stories as bonus material for a KickStarter or even make their way into the series later.  It’s all up in the air right now.

CU: What was the most difficult part in the production of Chem 19? 

KT: The toughest part is growing the fan base.  Marketing takes time.  I’ve done a successful Kickstarter, gone to conventions and built an online presence.  It’s constant work.  There are so many stories and products out there, it’s hard for a little guy to find his way.

 

CU: Are you planning on any new series after Chem 19? 

KT: I’m working on a horror novel and do have another idea for a comic series but want to continue with Chem 19 for now so nothing on the comic front.

 CU: Who is your favorite all time super hero/villain? Why? 

KT: Dare Devil.  I love what he stands for.  It really drew me in as a kid…Plus who doesn’t want be afraid of anything!  

CU: What is the best way readers can find Chem 19?

KT: The two best ways are our Facebook page or Tapastic page.  And always make sure to check Kickstarter for us too, we will be launching our 2nd one soon to put issues 7-12 in a TPB.  That is the main way that we get our sales which help us continue the story.

Vready to Vrumble

VELCOME TO ANOTHER VONDERFUL MATCH ON COMIC VUNKNOWN

We enter this new adventure with Lucasz Kowalczuk, the mind behind the comic series of an inter-dimensional tournament only known as Vreckless Vrestlers. It is a five part issue miniseries that also has an introductory Issue 0 on the fighters. We see two fights with issue one: Crimean Crab VS The Eye and Vegan Cat VS Flatwoods Monster. We see these fighters in the year 3067  entering the ring with the single rule the tournament: No Rules. Vreckless Vrestlers is essentially the mindless comic people will look for. It has a fighter card in the beginning of each match in both English and Polish and is set up in black and white with green highlighted shading (only in digital).V.V. does not need too much detail to get its story across but we can say that both of the fights in the issue are cold-blooded and barbaric.

 We see a  small glimpse of history that Crimean Crab and The Eye actually knew each other prior to the fight without any actual dialogue. It has some great grungy art that pops with all the violence in the issue. V.V. is that unique comic that refreshes the mind with just a simple chaotic matches with no limitations. We quickly see each fighter's strengths with a victor and loser in each match. It is an entertainingly brutal  and vreckless  book that is its own unique comical experience.  Vreckless Vrestlers Issue 1 is currently available digitally for  $0.99 here and is a book that is its own unique comical experience with a side of brutal wrestling. The only upset is that the self-published edition  is no longer available and the trade paperback was only published in the Polish version by Kultura Gniewu and not available in any shop in North America.

#IFightGhosts Give Me Your Money Collection Volume 1

Obligatory Origin Story

We find ourselves which another hit web comic that was successfully funded into an Omnibus via Kickstarter. #IFightGhosts was created by Martin Dunn, Dustin Holfier, and Moises Fermin. Give me your Money Collection Volume 1 is over 70 pages of content and consists of #IFightGhosts Season 1, Season 2, A Spectromancer Christmas Carol, Dandy & Company/#IFightGhosts, Political Correction 1-3, and an Art Gallery. Excluding the Crossover with Dandy & Company, #IFightGhosts is in full color. The art would catch the audience's attention to check out the book and the writing will make sure the audience read the book cover to cover in one shot. #IFightGhosts follows the afterlife of Darren Palmer who selflessly dies and becomes Spectromancer even though he is pretty much a jerk. This anti-hero finds himself in situations and adventures no one would ever find themselves in.

The Spectromancer is absolutely everywhere in a good way. A priest attempts to exorcise him, he confronts Cthulhu, and he even refers pop culture and current events. #IFightGhosts is the series almost anyone can pick up and enjoy it. Spectromancer has a Scarecrow look/Deadpool vibe going and it works. Fortunately for the audience, #IFightGhosts is a  horror/comedy webcomic and is available to read for free here! If you want to pick up the physical omnibus and/or support the creators just follow the steps on their Kickstarter. All in all, #IFightGhosts is an awesome web comic turned book that is fun, entertaining, and gained a new follower.
